Very exciting times at Antur’s main site in Waunfawr at the moment, with work starting on the development of a new, inclusive play area.
Our café, gardens and seven-acre park are already open to the public throughout the year, with a safe and convenient car park on site and many accessible paths to help people explore their surroundings. In the gardens, there are a large variety of trees and plants, together with ponds which were specifically created to encourage the local wildlife.
Now, and thanks to the generosity of the Wolfson Foundation, London, Antur will further improve the park by adding specialist play equipment which caters for both disabled and able individuals.
Chief Executive Officer Menna Jones said: “We are delighted that we can move ahead with this project, and are extremely grateful to the Wolfson Foundation for their support. Antur’s vision has always been to create a place that is truly inclusive, and this equipment will ensure that children, young people and adults of all abilities can socialise and play together, developing a greater awareness and understanding of the needs of others. It’s going to be a fantastic addition to our main site, and we can’t thank them enough!”
Paul Ramsbottom, Chief Executive of the Wolfson Foundation, added, “Young people with disabilities should benefit from the same opportunities as their peers, including the enjoyment and experience of play areas. We are delighted to be supporting this inclusive playing environment in Waunfawr, and indeed another wonderful project in Gwynedd, where we have also made recent grants to Storiel and Bangor University.”
